FIRE NOTICE: Serpa Fire causes evacuations in Coarsegold and delays on Highway 41. Read the Sierra Star’s article for further details. Sierra News Online has a good list of the areas where the evacuation order still remains in place, and where it has been lifted (UPDATE: the evacuation orders have been lifted everywhere).
Drone operator arrested for flying over wildfire. While a lot of the advice on this site relates to protecting your home from wildfire, it should go without saying that getting in the way of firefighters is not in any way firewise. Be safe and smart out there.

Help celebrate our first responders by attending the National Night Out in Oakhurst! The event will be held on Tuesday, August 2 from 5 pm – 9 pm at the Payless Shoe Source Parking Lot on Highway 49.

California’s tree mortality task force continues to secure funds for Madera and five other counties in the state, to ensure they have the proper resources to deal with this ongoing epidemic.
